The photos were taken during his holiday trip back to his home state. The president-elect did what any red-blooded American would do in a tropical isle: He stripped down to his swimming trunks and dove right into the winter surf. The ABC video showed a fleeting rear view of Obama descending into the water, but that was enough to trigger the buzz for "obama hawaii" (+130%), "obama vacation" (+113%) and, of course, the aforementioned shirtless queries.

It's confirmed, John McCain picks Sarah Palin, Alaska's governor, as his Vice President running mate. Sarah Palin is a 44-year old mother of five and is married to a Todd Palin, a native Alaskan who is a seasonal fisherman and an oil field worker offseason. She is also a lifetime member of National Rifle Association, the first female governor of Alaska, the first woman on a national GOP ticket, a former mayor of Alaska, a star high school basketball player, and a beauty queen.

The Earthday Jam Eight Edition will be celebrated on April 25, Friday around 7 PM at Tomas Morato Avenue, Quezon City. This event is in celebration of the International Earth Day.

For one night, over 20 bands, musicians and artists are expected to perform for a merry music-making marathon. The 2008 Earthday Jam starts with explosive jazz, samba and bossa at full swing with the Philippine Latin-Jazz Orchestra, the vocal ensemble The Company, the spicy samba group Guarana and bossa nova diva, Sitti.

The pop set follows with sweet catchy tunes from Barbie Almalbis, Imago, Callalily, Moonstar '88 and Zelle. The rock scene then headlines three major bands-Rivermaya, Sandwich and Kjwan with "Earthday jam" veterans such as the artist-producer-envi awardee herself, Lou Bonnevie, backed up by rockers from Razorback & Pinikpikan, plus Noel Cabangon with his band and world-funk-ethno group Pinikpikan.

Earthday Jam can't be complete without the reggae-rastas from Reggae Mistress and True Faith, along with ska band Juan Pablo Dream and the wacky Radioactive Sago Project. The lineup also guarantees a musical feast with Sinosikat and UpDharma Down. The reunion of R&B group South Border will surely be a momentous occasion. Also joining musicians onstage are speakers from environmental NGO organizations and volunteers from the civic society.

Admission is free because living on Earth is free.

Eight teenagers in Florida have been arrested after filming the "animalistic" beating of another teen named Victoria Lindsay, 16 years old, and posted it in Youtube and MySpace for worldwide exposure. The eight "suspects" were identified as April Cooper, 14; Mercades Nichols, 17; Brittni Hardcastle, 17; Brittany Mayes, 17; Cara Murphy, 16; Kayla Hassell, 15; Stephen Schumaker, 18; and Zachary Ashley, 17.

One of the girls struck the 16-year-old victim on the head several times and then slammed her head into a wall, knocking her unconscious, according to an arrest report. The 8 teenagers face possible long prison terms for the videotaped beating of another teen girl.

To my fellow Filipinos who are fanatics with The Playboy Magazine, this might be a good news for all of you as Playboy Magazine is now available in the Philippine market starting today. The Philippines will get its own edition of Playboy magazine -- only without the nudity that made the US version famous, the editor-in-chief of the local edition said Thursday.

The Philippine edition will be launched on April 2 as a "mature lifestyle magazine", said veteran journalist Beting Laygo Dolor.

While the magazine will offer pictorials of beautiful women, it will not include nudity. "It will be tamer than the US edition but not as tame as the Indonesian edition," Lagyo Dolor said in a television interview.

He said it would be aimed at a more mature, affluent readership than "lad magazines" such as FHM and Maxim which already have Philippine editions.
