The Forbidden Kingdom is a forthcoming martial arts action adventure fantasy movie which is the first film collaboration between martial arts veterans Jackie Chan and Jet Li together with Liu Yipei, Li Bingbing, Collin Chou and Michael Angarano, with action choreography by Yuen Woo-ping. Filming was completed on August 24, 2007 and it went into post-production on September 29. The official release date in US will be April 18, 2008.
Synopsis:
While hunting down bootleg kung-fu DVDs in a Chinatown pawnshop, Jason (Michael Angarano) makes an extraordinary discovery that sends him hurtling back in time to ancient China. There, Jason is charged with a monumental task: he must free the fabled warrior the Monkey King (Jet Li), who has been imprisoned by the evil Jade Warlord (Collin Chou). Jason is joined in his quest by wise kung fu master Lu Yan (Jackie Chan) and a band of misfit warriors including Silent Monk. But only by learning the true precepts of kung fu can Jason hope to succeed - and find a way to get back home.
