Mirko "CroCop" Filipović would be returning to the promotion to face Mostapha Al-turk. This will be Filipović's first fight in the UFC since his unanimous-decision loss to Cheick Kongo at UFC 75 in 2007. Since that fight, he has gone 2-0-0 with one no contest while fighting for other promotions.
An announced bout between Heath Herring and Cain Velasquez is canceled due to an illness that Herring is suffering. On May 20, 2009, Cheick Kongo was announced as the replacement.
