Doña Mary Ejercito, mother of former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada, died Tuesday 01/13/2009 at around 4:15 PM. Accroding to Estrada’s spokesperson, Dona Mary died at the San Juan Medical Center and the wake will be at the St John the Baptist Church in San Juan. Since August 2007, she had been confined to the hospital and attached to a respirator.

Condolences to the Ejercito and Estrada family.

Do you know who is the richest man in the Philippines? According to a poll recently conducted by Forbes Asia 2008 Philippines Rich List, Henry Sy is Philippines’ richest man. 83-year old mall mogul has an estimated net worth of US$3.1 billion. His wealth is up by $1.4 billion from last year, the biggest gain on the list in absolute terms. Meanwhile, business tycoon Lucio Tan is in the second place with a net worth of $1.5 billion.

Want to see dinosaurs in the city? The Dino Island Park in Star City is the latest attraction in Manila for all age. As the name implies, you will see here a life-like appearances of dinosaurs equipped with a technology called animatronics. Aside from dinosaurs, you can also watch an eruption of a volcano and see a 40-feet waterfall.

ARMM Election Results: Watch out for the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Election results here. As an initial update, as of 8 PM on Monday August 11, 2008, Comelec already announced that the results were already in from the following provinces:

25.21 percent of Maguindanao
9.2 percent of Tawi-Tawi
3.94 percent of Lanao del Sur
2.86 percent of Basilan; 2.75 percent of Shariff Kabunsuan
2.15 percent of Sulu.

The Philippine All Stars did it again as they won the gold medal in the 2008 World Hip-Hop Championship held on Sunday, August 3 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The group ruled the dance floor with their two-minute performance and garnered an aggregate score of 8.94 from the three judges. A large part of their score was earned from their infusion of artistic steps choreography.

Who is Juseleeno Nobulega DaRoose, you might ask. I heard he's the guy behind the July 18 Earthquake here in the Philippines. Who is he? Should we believe his prophecies? Does he really exist?

I made a research on his profile and I learned that his real name was Jucelino Nobrega da Luz, a Brazilian born on 1960. Except this, no other details about him was provided except that he is still alive and made predictions over the past years - some happened while others not. Some of his prophecies that came to pass were Princess Diana’s death by car accident, 911, and the 2004 Indonesian tsunami.

I found his website (not sure if this is his official site, though) at Jucelinodaluz.com.br and luckily enough, I saw his predictions for July 2008:

2008, July: There will be an earthquake in Japan, which will cause a tsunami of 30 plus metres high to occur as well.

Next prediction for the year 2008 were:

2008, 18th September: An earthquake with magnitude of approximately 9.1 will rock China , simultaneously causing a tsunami of more than 30 metres to occur, resulting in the deaths of more than 1 million people. Although this huge earthquake will happen after the Olympics have ended, there will be a series of relatively smaller earthquakes occurring in China before the huge earthquake. The China government, which is more concerned with the success of the Olympics, will most likely neglect to employ appropriate cautionary measures, thus the high casualty rate. If the China government does not publicise the occurrence of these minor earthquakes and evacuate people, the number of deaths will be as predicted.

2008, 17th December: Terrorist attack in America

Obviously, it was not indicated that there will be an earthquake on July 18 in the Philippines. That means, the emails and text messages we received might be a bogus email just circulating around to fool us!!!

A prophecy about a magnitude 8.1 earthquake will hit the Philippines on July 18, 2008, that's according to the e-mails, blog posts and text messages that have been circulating around. It was based on a prophecy made by a Brazilian psychic named Jucelino Nóbrega da Luz.

Is it true? Or just a hoax?

It's only nine days away before we could find out if this is for real or not. According to Phivolcs Director Renato Solidium Jr., it was just another example of email bogus “There is no basic science behind it”. He added "Nobody can predict an earthquake as to the exact magnitude, time and actual date".

Well, let's just keep on praying and wait for that day. Who knows, right?
